This lovely estate in the Karoo near Middleberg, belongs to friends. One year, after leaving them, we cracked our cylinder head and had to buy a new engine. My husband had to bus home to Zimbabwe while my daughter and I remained behind for a couple of weeks. We enjoyed the kind hospitality of the community who went out of their way to welcome us.

We had visited Temple Farm and returned in the evening. As a result of the
Gariep Dam which provides irrigation to farming ventures via the Fish River
transfer tunnel, this farm is well watered and essential oils are grown there. Flowers and grape vines
abound in the gardens around the house which is built where a staging post used to be.
